Cillian Murphy was recently thrust into the spotlight when speculations swirled around his potential casting for a forthcoming Harry Potter TV series, which had him categorically denying any involvement. The rumors gained traction as Chris Columbus, who directed the initial two films in the franchise, praised Murphy’s talents but also hinted at his suitability for playing Lord Voldemort.

In an interview with The Times, Murphy made it clear he was not considering the role, even though the series’ creators were yet to finalize their casting choices. The confusion had reached such a fever pitch that Murphy felt compelled to set the record straight. His response? “Can you make that the headline?”

The last send-off for his character Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders saw Murphy participating at the red carpet event for the film’s world premiere in Birmingham. Speaking candidly about his character’s evolution from WW1 to 1940, he remarked: “Oh my God, I don’t know if I can give you that in a soundbite. You’d need to watch the 36 hours of TV. It’s kind of very, very complex.”

Reflecting on his time with Peaky Blinders, Murphy expressed his pride for both the series and its devoted audience: “I’m immensely proud of the work, I’m immensely proud of the show, I’m immensely proud of the fans.” The film, titled Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, premiered in select theaters on March 6th and was set to land on Netflix by March 20th.
