Flash floods triggered by cloudbursts devastated Chilas’ Thor area, causing extensive damage to homes, crops, livestock, and infrastructure.
In Thor Mek, a local mosque was also affected by the floodwaters. The sudden surge of water from a dry mountain led to severe damage in the region.
A residential house, valuable household items, livestock, and vehicles were swept away by the flooding. Additionally, nearly 200 grams of gold extracted through a placer deposit and cash were washed away.
Flood debris entered homes, while road links to Thor were cut off, disrupting access to the affected area. The floods also damaged agricultural fields in Thor Shaitan and Thor Mek.
Local residents are conducting relief operations independently, but severed roads pose significant challenges for both residents and rescue teams.
