Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz underwent major surgery at Sharif Medical City Hospital in Lahore. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed this on Thursday.

Aurangzeb stated that the chief minister had the procedure at Sharif Medical City Hospital and was later shifted home following the operation. Despite her hospitalization, Nawaz continued to oversee provincial administrative matters during Eid.

Federal Information Technology Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja offered prayers for Nawaz’s swift recovery and good health in response to the announcement. This is not the first time Nawaz has faced health-related attention; she was admitted to the same hospital in November 2024 for medical tests, including a thyroid evaluation. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari dismissed claims that Nawaz suffers from cancer as completely false last month.
