Saifullah Khan, a representative of the All Pakistan Customs Agents Association, stated that 45 customs agents had their licenses revoked, and they plan to explore all legal options, including approaching the courts, to challenge the decision. Khan further mentioned that their agents have been blackmailed by customs officers, and there has been no progress in meetings with the Chief Collector of Customs.

He demanded that the customs officers’ profiles also be made public to understand how low-paid officers are able to afford luxurious homes and cars.

The Customs Agents Association had provided full cooperation for the success of the fee waiver system, but due to problems within the system, it has failed on its own. With the increase in imports, there has been a rise in revenue, but customs officials have allegedly misled the Prime Minister by reporting inflated earnings, Khan added.

The Association has decided to halt imports and exports across the country if their demands are not addressed. A crucial meeting will take place today at 4 PM to discuss the matter further.
