Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stated on Thursday that following Pakistan’s nuclear capability, the government’s next objective is to turn it into an economic powerhouse. He made this statement while addressing reporters in Lahore at the mausoleum of Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Ali bin Usman Al-Hajveri.

Pakistan’s economy would have been stronger today if not for obstacles placed in its path to development, Dar said. The current federal budget has provided tax relief worth Rs361 billion to the public, he added.

Responding to a question about Pakistan’s role in mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, Dar noted that the country had emerged as a peacemaker on the global stage. He also mentioned that Pakistan was among the first nations to condemn the US-Israeli military strikes on Iran and had made practical efforts to help end the conflict.

Dar reiterated the government’s commitment to economic growth and regional stability, stating that Pakistan would continue playing a constructive role in promoting peace and cooperation.
