Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the urgency for de-escalation in the Middle East and wider region during a recent meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, expressing his inability to attend the upcoming Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting due to the ongoing regional tensions.

In Islamabad, Dar conveyed appreciation for the Commonwealth’s continued support for Pakistan while stressing the need for peace and security. He emphasized that immediate steps must be taken to prevent further escalation in the Middle East, a region where stability is paramount.

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration among nations towards fostering an environment conducive to regional harmony. As the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Dar maintained his commitment to address these pressing concerns from Pakistan’s diplomatic front.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has swiftly responded to this situation by implementing critical measures aimed at supporting its citizens abroad. These include establishing special facilitation desks at embassies for stranded nationals and activating a Crisis Management Unit to monitor the evolving landscape around-the-clock.

Efforts have been expedited to facilitate the return of Pakistani citizens through accelerated visa processing, accommodations, and travel arrangements. A range of support services including visa assistance, accommodation options, and travel plans are being provided by these dedicated desks.

Additionally, special portals, mobile applications, and helplines have been launched for improved communication and direct support. The ministry maintains constant dialogue with host governments to ensure seamless coordination in assisting affected citizens.

The Foreign Office has underlined the government’s priority of ensuring the safety and well-being of overseas Pakistanis. This commitment is supported by detailed emergency contacts and assistance available on official websites and social media platforms, serving as a reliable resource for information and support for Pakistani expatriates abroad.

In parallel with these efforts to assist citizens at home and abroad, partial restoration of flight operations has begun facilitating the repatriation process through commercial flights. The government’s commitment to safeguarding overseas Pakistanis remains unwavering amidst ongoing challenges in the region.
