Dar Expresses Concern Over US-Israel Attack on Iran, Despite Positive Talks

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar expressed alarm over the “sudden” US-Israeli joint attack on Iran, contrasting with the positive trajectory observed in ongoing talks between Washington and Tehran. In a Senate session, he highlighted that the process of these diplomatic efforts was proceeding successfully. This was underscored by his recollection of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Austria, where Pakistan joined a meeting with IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi. Dar cited Grossi as optimistic about dialogue moving toward a constructive outcome.

Dar also recounted a conversation he had the night before with Oman’s foreign minister, who informed him that their most recent round of talks between the US and Iran concluded positively. The Omani FM reported to Vice President in Washington after the discussions, reporting a favorable direction for diplomacy.

Noting this new information, Dar stressed how these “sudden” attacks resembled actions seen last June, alluding back to the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran. Expressing further concern over this resurgence of military moves, he emphasized the need for continued diplomatic engagement.

More developments are expected soon.
