Dax Shepard was visibly moved to tears as he recalled how his wife, Kristen Bell, became his rock when he was caring for his dying father.

Dave Robert Shepard embraced death at the age of 62 in December 2012 after battling aggressive lung cancer, small-cell carcinoma.

Discussing grief with CNN journalist Anderson Cooper, Dax shared about his father’s long struggle with cancer and addiction.

He revealed that Dave’s acquaintances often grieved him while he had to comfort them during their time together at Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

Desperate for someone to share his grief with, Dax wanted Bell by his side. She flew from California to Detroit, seven months pregnant, to be there for him.

Dax and Kristen Bell have been in a relationship since 2007, marrying in 2013 and welcoming two daughters, Lincoln and Delta.
