Defence Minister Killed Amid Mali Militant Assaults

Mali’s Defence Minister Sadio Camara was killed in an attack on his residence in Kati. The assault occurred a day before the incident, with militants targeting military installations across several cities including Kati, Bamako, Gao, and Kidal.

General Camara, one of Mali’s most influential leaders since the 2020 and 2021 coups, was seen as a key figure within the current military leadership. His death is considered a significant blow to the country’s armed forces.

The attacks extended beyond Kati, affecting Bamako, Gao, Kidal, and other regions.
