Doja Cat recently reflected on the downsides of fame in an interview with U.S. Vogue. She expressed her longing to be able to go out in public without being recognized.
“I miss the feeling of being able to go out and not have people know who I am,” she said.
Despite not enjoying the attention, Doja is hesitant to confront fans or paparazzi directly.
“It makes me so upset when they film me. No, I’m not going to do that.”
She prefers a creative approach instead.
“Sometimes I try to look purposefully ugly,” she explained about her methods of avoiding unwanted attention.
Doja also found the public’s expectations of celebrities fascinating in the interview.
“People feel they’re owed a photo or your attention or smile. That is the most fascinating part for me,” she said, reflecting on how fame shapes interactions with the public.
