A powerful 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Pakistan’s Swat and nearby regions, triggering significant tremors across several cities. The Seismic Center reported that this seismic event occurred at a depth of 73 kilometers in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountain range, causing widespread concern among local residents.

In the region, reports indicate that the quake’s power was felt particularly strongly in Swat, Nowshera, Kohat, Haripur, and other nearby cities. These areas experienced significant aftershocks as well, prompting immediate evacuations from homes by residents who sought safety under their beds or in safer locations.

According to officials at the Seismic Center, the epicenter of this earthquake was precisely in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountains, a location that has historically been prone to seismic activity. At present, no reports have indicated any casualties or significant property damage resulting from the tremors.

The experience for many residents was marked by fear and anxiety as they witnessed their houses shake violently during what seemed like an unending series of aftershocks. Many reported praying loudly and taking shelter in safer areas within their homes, though some chose to leave temporarily, seeking higher ground or more secure locations.

Local authorities are currently monitoring the situation closely, preparing emergency response teams in anticipation of possible damage reports. The Seismic Center will continue to provide updates on any further developments related to this seismic event, ensuring that all necessary precautions and responses are made available to residents in affected areas.
