Eleven Pakistani soldiers and 12 terrorists were killed in a brutal assault on a security checkpoint near Bajaur, with devastating consequences for the civilian population.
The attack took place on February 16th, 2026, when a group of Indian-sponsored militants sought to breach the safety measures at a joint post between security forces and law enforcement agencies. Their plan was thwarted by swift and decisive action from Pakistan’s armed forces, who repelled the attackers with precision.
The ferocity of the assault saw twelve terrorists eliminated, but their desperate actions resulted in the loss of eleven brave soldiers. A bomb-laden vehicle rammed into the perimeter wall, causing significant damage to infrastructure at the post and resulting in the sacrifice of one civilian – a young girl caught in the blast zone. Seven other civilians suffered injuries.
ISPR reported that these attacks were an act of cowardice by Indian-sponsored terrorists, aiming to destabilize Pakistan’s security. The aftermath highlighted the human cost of such acts of terror; a residential building close to the checkpoint was severely damaged, leading to one civilian death and seven others injured.
The response from ISPR emphasized that sanitization operations are ongoing in the area to eliminate any additional threats, with an unwavering commitment by Pakistan’s security forces under the campaign ‘Azm e Istehkam’. This operation aims to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism entirely.
These acts of bravery and sacrifice underscore the determination of Pakistan’s military and law enforcement agencies to protect their nation. The federal apex committee on National Action Plan has endorsed this relentless campaign, ensuring that all forms of terror will be eliminated from Pakistani soil.
The impact of such an attack serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by foreign-supported terrorism in Pakistan, and highlights the resilience and dedication of the country’s security forces.
