Expert Explains Khloe Kardashian’s Fear of Dating: Sarmassophobia

Khloe Kardashian recently admitted she has a fear of dating, a condition described as chronic Sarmassophobia—fear of dating and relationships or anxiety associated with romantic or sexual situations stemming from a fear of intimacy or rejection. In the latest episode of her podcast, “Khlouds in Wonder Land,” Khloe disclosed this detail about her condition.

A Beverly Hills psychologist, Dr. Levine, weighed in on her struggles, offering insights into potential reasons and suggested ways for handling it. Dr. Levine explained, “Having a fear of dating after being hurt many times in the past is quite normal.” He advised that she should give herself time to recover from her previous traumatic experiences caused by heartbreak.

Dr. Levine also suggested exposure therapy as a way to gradually get back into relationships, recommending practice dates during the day. He further recommended Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for looking at the root causes of her fear, helping her examine what really holds her back—whether it’s fear of being cheated on or rejection.

“It takes work because you have to look back at past pain, but it’s worth it in the end as it heals,” Dr. Levine advised.

Khloe previously dated Tristan Thompson, who cheated multiple times, and she was also married to Lamar Odom. During her podcast, Khloe mentioned that dating life made her feel unsafe. She said, “I hated how I felt before, feeling like I don’t want to go back there. Now, I’m safe where I am, but I can’t live this way forever. I’m so afraid.” She noted she needs to seek therapy for managing her fear of being vulnerable or rejected in future relationships.
