Direct Flights Reconnected: Dhaka and Karachi Welcome Back After 14 Years

Direct air connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh was restored on Thursday as Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated its first commercial flight from Dhaka to Karachi. The inaugural flight arrived at Jinnah International Airport carrying 150 passengers and was met with a warm reception. A special ceremony was held at the airport to mark the occasion.

Addressing the event, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori termed the resumption of direct flights as a historic moment for bilateral relations, calling it an important step towards strengthening ties between the two countries.

The return flight from Karachi to Dhaka departed with 140 passengers on board. The ceremony was attended by the Bangladesh High Commissioner, senior officials of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, Pakistan Airports Authority, and the Airports Security Force (ASF).

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will initially operate two weekly flights between Karachi and Dhaka, using Boeing 737 aircraft.
