The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman has suspended amendments to the Customs baggage rules of 2006, reversing a newly imposed ban that restricted travelers to bringing only one mobile phone into Pakistan.

Sources confirm that under the existing rules, travelers are allowed to bring two mobile phones. The chairman also halted a proposed ban on commercial imports exceeding $1,200, calling for a review through consultation before resubmission.

On Monday, the FBR issued a notification restricting goods under the baggage scheme, but this decision has now been withdrawn pending furtherreview.
