Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima, has acknowledged widespread complaints about the country’s sluggish internet service, calling the situation “unacceptable.” Addressing the issue, she said that the government is moving forward with efforts to auction 5G technology, which is seen as a vital step toward bolstering the digital economy and improving digital governance.

Fatima also revealed that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been asked to submit data from the past two weeks to analyze internet traffic and performance. This will help in diagnosing the problem and applying the necessary fixes to restore optimal service.

She further assured that the issues with WhatsApp disruptions have been resolved, while also noting that like many other nations, Pakistan has been operating a web management system for some time.

The Minister of State also revealed that Pakistan has been facing international cyber security attacks, emphasizing that the country needs a robust cybersecurity system to counter these threats.
