A massive fire erupted in a plastic factory in Landhi area of Karachi today, highlighting the serious safety hazards prevalent in industrial zones. The incident came to light when more than ten fire brigades rushed to the scene, their efforts intensified by two snorkels from the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC). Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan categorized this as one of the third-degree fires that have plagued Karachi’s bustling export processing zone.

The flames quickly spread across the factory premises and into neighboring establishments, forcing over a dozen workers to evacuate safely. Officials reported that the fire was so intense it necessitated assistance from fire units across the city. Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad personally visited the Export Processing Zone to oversee rescue efforts.

The situation attracted immediate attention from Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who summoned detailed reports from the Commissioner Karachi. The blaze caused severe traffic disruptions in Malir Court and Quaidabad, complicating emergency responses by fire brigades and rescuers.

This incident underscores the vulnerability of Karachi’s industrial landscape to unforeseen emergencies. It also highlights the need for stringent safety measures and improved coordination among municipal authorities, fire departments, and local officials to prevent such disasters from escalating further.
