A major blaze that raged for over a day has finally been extinguished, bringing relief to those affected in Karachi. The fire began at a plastic manufacturing factory located within the Export Processing Zone area of Landhi.
Around 8:45 pm on Friday, the flames erupted at this facility and quickly spread to nearby factories producing old clothes and footwear. The inferno continued to consume multiple structures as it moved from one building to another, before firefighters managed to bring it under control after more than 11 hours of relentless battle.
Several fire trucks belonging to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Pakistan Navy, and Rescue 1122 units joined forces in the emergency response. Despite its intensity, no casualties were reported as authorities kept watch over the situation with an eye on potential secondary explosions from fuel-laden areas within affected zones.
The Karachi Commissioner reassured the public that all efforts had been made to prevent further damage. While the economic impact of this fire remains to be fully assessed, initial reports indicate significant losses in terms of property and manufacturing capabilities.
