A fire broke out at a chemical factory in Karachi’s SITE area on Tuesday, prompting immediate action from rescue services and authorities. Rescue 1122 reported that the facility was situated close to Valika Chowrangi. The organization stated they had dispatched a fire brigade truck along with rescue teams to the site as soon as they received the report of the incident.

Local residents were already on high alert, due to Mayor Murtaza Wahab’s earlier directive for all departments within Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to remain vigilant and prepared. He tweeted about the developing situation, stating, “KMC fire team is attending to the fire incident reported at a factory in SITE Industrial Area. I’ll keep everyone updated.”

Mayor Wahab’s instructions included utilising all available resources for the rescue operation, as well as ordering the water board authorities to implement emergency measures.

The mayor emphasized that “all possible steps should be taken to control the fire,” and reiterated that “there will be no compromise made on the safety of human lives.”

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed Mayor Wahab and the Commissioner to oversee rescue efforts. The chief minister also instructed them to investigate the cause of the fire.

This incident comes just one day after a significant fire broke out in bushes near the University of Karachi (KU), which had since been brought under control.
