Harry Potter star Rupert Grint on challenging path as a father

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint candidly discussed his tumultuous journey as a father during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Now the proud papa of five-year-old Wednesday and 10-month-old Goldie, whom he shares with his partner Georgia Groome, has opened up about the challenges of parenthood.

Grint, who portrayed Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series, revealed that fatherhood initially felt isolating and even traumatising. “The fear of the dangers and the baby getting hurt, something being not quite normal,” he said, particularly noting his experience with Wednesday.

Those early months were excruciatingly difficult for Grint, who described it as an “awful feeling” when everything should be extraordinary in a family setting.

However, Groome’s support proved invaluable throughout their journey together. Despite the couple attempting to maintain privacy, they have managed to keep their relationship under wraps.

Back in 2015, when he was still interviewing for Glamour, Grint had joked about his partnership with Groome: “It’s a very natural thing, we’re just best friends,” he said. “We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way.” Their enduring relationship is credited to their shared interests and understanding.

Grint believes that this lasting connection allows them to navigate the highs and lows of modern dating in Hollywood effortlessly. Despite public life’s challenges, his relationship with Groome stands out as a beacon of stability in what can sometimes be an isolating industry.
