Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored Pakistan’s commitment to tackling illegal immigration in Vienna during his address at the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum. He highlighted that Islamabad was closely collaborating with European partners including Austria, France, and Germany to control unlawful migration.
This initiative came on the heels of a formal welcome ceremony where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a Guard of Honour from Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker upon arrival in Vienna for his two-day official visit. The prime minister’s remarks in Vienna emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to curbing illegal immigration through cooperative efforts and pledged to meet Europe’s demands by preparing skilled labor via internationally recognized training programs.
Shehbaz also mentioned that 60% of Pakistan’s population are young individuals who require access to modern skills such as laptop use, artificial intelligence, and IT-driven initiatives. The prime minister stressed the importance of proactive engagement in sectors such as mining and minerals alongside renewable energy, which he stated were key areas for collaboration with Austria.
During his meetings with Austrian leadership, Shehbaz Sharif committed himself to concluding ongoing discussions leading to enhanced economic cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister was warmly received at the Austrian Chancellery by Chancellor Christian Stocker. The ceremony began with a performance of both nations’ anthems followed by a Guard of Honour presentation before proceeding into formal talks aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
