The 774th Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) was set to kick off in Sehwan today, with thousands of devotees expected from across Pakistan and abroad. The district administration had mobilized over 5,000 policemen and 300 Rangers to ensure the security of the esteemed occasion.

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessouri would be among the dignitaries to officially inaugurate this year’s Urs at the revered shrine. Cultural activities were planned throughout the week, including a literary conference organized by the Sindh Culture Department and an event featuring traditional wrestling hosted by the Sindh Sports Department.

On the second day of the Urs, attendees could look forward to a detailed insight into Qalandar’s saintly works through a literary conference, with historians and writers scheduled to speak at this pivotal gathering. Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Ali Qadri emphasized that Sehwan would be closely monitored, utilizing 320 CCTV cameras installed across the town — including 120 in the shrine area itself.

In support of pilgrims, 15 medical camps were established within Sehwan with a dedicated emergency unit at the central government hospital. The festive period promised to be one for the books and memories, offering spiritual solace alongside historical discourse and cultural entertainment.

As thousands converged on Sehwan under the guidance of stringent security measures and community support, this Urs would serve as both an important religious event and a testament to unity in Pakistan’s diverse populace.
