Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) has mandated a mandatory three-credit-hour AI course for all undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, effective from the Fall 2026 academic session. This directive comes at a time when the educational and technological landscape globally is rapidly evolving with artificial intelligence at its core.
In their letter to vice chancellors and university heads, HEC’s Executive Director emphasized that AI education no longer serves as an optional benefit but as a vital necessity for students.
