Global tech firm Hisense has set up operations in Pakistan through a collaboration with Airlink Communication Limited, as announced on Saturday.

The launch event took place at the Expo Centre Lahore and was attended by government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and industry representatives. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, said Hisense’s entry indicates that Pakistan is not just a consumer market but an emerging hub for production and industrial growth.

Khan stated that the partnership between Hisense and Airlink exemplifies industrial collaboration merging global technology with local manufacturing. This collaboration is expected to promote technology transfer, skills development, and job creation. He emphasized that the arrival of Hisense sends a clear message that Pakistan is not just a consumer market but an emerging hub for production, innovation, and industrial growth.

Khan also referred to Airlink’s advanced manufacturing facility in the Sundar Special Economic Zone as an engine of economic progress. He noted that every locally assembled television and air conditioner manufactured in Pakistan contributes towards reducing imports, conserving foreign exchange, and creating employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

The SAPM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting local manufacturing through progressive reforms. He highlighted that the National Industrial Policy and National Tariff Policy aim to improve competitiveness, attract investment, and create a predictable business environment. Khan also appreciated Airlink’s dedication to inclusive growth, noting that the company employs over 2,500 individuals, including many women.

Khan remarked that Hisense’s launch demonstrates Pakistan is transitioning from an import-dependent economy to a production-driven one. “Pakistan is not merely a market; it is becoming a manufacturing hub,” he stated.
