In 2005, Hollywood released “War of the Worlds”, starring Tom Cruise and focusing on an alien invasion. Now, with recent UFO files sparking public interest in extraterrestrial life, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson asserts that the film industry has been preparing audiences for the ultimate revelation: aliens are real.
In a conversation with The Daily Mail, Tyson explains, “Of course, we’re ready, because movies have been prepping us ever since War of the Worlds.” He also notes the dedicated followership in pop culture for UFOs and alien lore.
Regarding this, Tyson quips, “We’ve already been told the government has them in the back shed; they just haven’t brought them out yet.”
In another part of the interview, Tyson firmly states that humans are not alone in the universe. He argues that life is opportunistic, working with the materials available on early Earth. Thus, he concludes, anyone who’s studied this field would be ready for the universe to be teeming with life.
