Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen have unveiled a revamped squad ahead of their first-ever participation in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), introducing high-profile signing Glenn Maxwell. The franchise announced on Thursday that Maxwell, known for his destructive batting and off-spin bowling, would be joining them as they prepare for their inaugural season, set to begin from March 26.
Maxwell, renowned for his consistent performance in T20 internationals with Australia, is expected to bring experience and power-hitting prowess to the Kingsmen. In 129 matches, he has amassed over 10,000 runs at a strike rate of 154.16, including five centuries, which places him among the league’s elite batsmen.
Notably, Maxwell has showcased his versatility in major cricket leagues worldwide, having played in Big Bash League, Indian Premier League, The Hundred, and Vitality Blast. His impressive T20 tally includes 58 fifties and eight centuries, as well as 196 wickets across 502 matches.
In addition to Maxwell, the team has secured Marnus Labuschagne of Australia for their batting lineup this season. This move underscores Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen’s commitment to strengthening their squad in anticipation of PSL 11, which marks a significant expansion from six to eight teams with the inclusion of the newly formed franchises.
The players comprising the current squad include Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Kusal Perera, Riley Meredith, and Sharjeel Khan. Their combination adds depth and capability across the lineup for Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, signaling their intent to make a strong start in PSL 11.
Despite the challenges presented by reduced draft slots due to the league’s first-ever player auction this year, which took place at Expo Centre Karachi, the franchise has assembled an impressive roster to commence their competitive journey. With established stars and young talents on board, Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen are positioned for a successful debut in PSL 11.
