Five judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) have submitted a detailed written response to the Supreme Court in a constitutional case regarding judges’ transfers and seniority issues.
The response, filed through senior lawyers Munir A. Malik and Rafaqat Hussain, accuses the federal government of misrepresenting facts during the consultation process.
The judges claim that officials falsely asserted a lack of provincial representation within the IHC, and that the Chief Justice was not informed that newly appointed judges would assume office without taking the oath.
They also raised questions over the timing of the transfers, noting that Justice Amir Farooq’s nomination to the Supreme Court came just before the reshuffling — a move they consider crucial to understanding the situation’s context.
