ISLAMABAD – An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has granted bail to Imaan Mazari, daughter of former federal minister Shireen Mazari, and her husband Hadi Ali Chatha in two separate cases related to incidents involving confrontations at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and protests outside a press club.
The ATC approved bail for Rs5,000 each in a case concerning a brawl that took place outside the IHC. The complainant, Wajid Gilani, had previously submitted an affidavit supporting the decision to grant bail.
In another contentious case related to controversial tweets posted by Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chatha, bail has yet to be granted. This case is still pending before a higher court where an appeal against the sentence remains unresolved.
Meanwhile, IHC’s Justice Muhammad Asif heard a petition seeking suspension of the controversial tweets-related sentence for Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chatha. The petitioners, including lawyers from Islamabad, urged the court to schedule hearing dates before Eidul Fitr.
Justice Asif acknowledged that hearings would be held in accordance with established policies following the conclusion of the trial proceedings.
