Imran Khan Files for Bail, Sues Sentence Due to Eye Ailment

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking suspension of his sentence and immediate bail in the Toshakhana-II case. The plea was submitted through lawyers Barrister Salman Safdar and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.

The petition emphasizes serious medical grounds, citing that Imran Khan suffers from a severe condition affecting his right eye, according to a diagnosis by Dr. Muhammad Arif at PIMS. A blood clot has severely damaged the right eye, leaving only 15% vision remaining. The legal team argues this case merits suspension on both grounds of law and medicine.

The petition highlights that proper treatment cannot be provided while Imran Khan remains incarcerated given his age of 73. Meanwhile, Law Minister Ali Dayan said there are contradictions in the timeline of PTI founder’s eye disease, suggesting further scrutiny may be needed.

Additionally, a miscellaneous application has been filed to expedite hearings for both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, who has not received bail for nearly a year. Both individuals have appeared before courts on various matters related to the case involving £190 million.

Barrister Salman Safdar confirmed that hearings for suspension of sentence in this case will likely be held on Monday. The coming hearing promises to maintain public interest and judicial attention, as Imran Khan’s stance on seeking bail remains a focal point of debate within Pakistan’s legal circles.
