Imtiaz Ali addressed rumors of sequels for his films Jab We Met and Tamasha.
Released in October 2007, Jab We Met starred Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. The film’s lively romance, unforgettable characters, and hit songs like Mauja Hi Mauja have made it a comfort film for many viewers over the years.
Tamasha, released in 2015 with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, explored identity and self-discovery, resonating strongly with younger audiences.
Ali told Indian media he has no plans to make sequels. He believes some films are complete on their own and that forcing a sequel could dilute the original’s emotional impact and uniqueness.
The filmmaker prefers genuine inspiration over external demand for his projects. He aims to explore fresh ideas while continuing to tell emotionally rich, character-driven stories with layered female characters.
