Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that negotiations with the United States are ongoing due to deep mistrust, conflicting messages from Washington, and continued Israeli attacks in the region.
Baghaei emphasized that if contradictory messages were part of a U.S. negotiating strategy, they would not be effective against Iran; however, if they reflected disarray within the U.S., Washington should provide clear and definitive positions as soon as possible.
The spokesperson also highlighted that Tehran views Israeli actions in Lebanon as inseparable from those of the United States, necessitating any agreement to end regional conflict to include implementation of a Lebanese ceasefire.
