In a recent telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian indicated his country’s readiness to return to diplomatic relations should the United States alter its stance. The president highlighted that instability in the Gulf region is primarily due to actions by the U.S. and Israel.

The Iranian leader urged an immediate halt to what he described as U.S naval “piracy” against Iranian vessels, calling for such activities to be condemned. This stance was taken during a conversation with the Japanese Prime Minister about potential diplomatic avenues.

On the occasion of the National Day of the Persian Gulf, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei reiterated his call for the removal of U.S presence from the region. He emphasized that Tehran and its Gulf neighbors share a common destiny and stressed there is no place for foreign elements.

Defending Iran’s policy of keeping rival powers out, Khamenei stated that protecting this strategic waterway is key to national security. He added any attempt to impose naval blockades or sanctions on Iranian ports would violate international law and fail.

These remarks come after US President Donald Trump claimed Washington has nearly achieved its goals in the conflict with Iran, stating that Iran was engaged in talks via telephone diplomacy.
