Iran Resumes Gas Flows to Iraq After South Pars Attack, State News Agency Reports

Iranian gas supplies to Iraq have resumed at a rate of five million cubic metres per day, according to the Iraqi electricity ministry. This comes after Israel attacked Iran’s main gas field, South Pars, on Wednesday, halting flows. The current flow is a fraction of the contracted 50 million cubic metres.

The resumption of Iranian gas supplies has led to stability in production at 14,000 megawatts, as stated by Ahmed Moussa, an electricity ministry spokesperson. However, Iraqi officials have not provided details about future volumes or damage to Iranian gas facilities.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian called for an immediate cessation of what he described as US-Israeli aggression during a phone conversation with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also urged the BRICS bloc to play an independent role in preventing such aggression against Iran, proposing a regional security framework comprising West Asian countries to ensure peace without foreign interference.
