Iranian FM Rejects Lebanon as Bargaining Chip in War

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that Lebanon was being used as a bargaining chip by Tehran in its negotiations with the United States.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed these comments on X, stating that if Lebanon were indeed a bargaining chip for Iran, a deal would have been reached long ago. He urged Aoun to save Lebanon from “your real foe.”

Aoun’s remarks suggest he perceives Iran as occupying 1/5 of Lebanon, displacing 1/4 of the population, and bombing his country daily.
