Jazz and the Universal Service Fund have signed the Badin Project to expand digital connectivity in Sindh, Pakistan. The project aims to bring reliable mobile voice and broadband services to underserved communities in District Badin. This agreement is a shared effort to extend meaningful digital access to areas with limited connectivity.
The ceremony was attended by Honorable Governor of Sindh, Mr. Kamran Tessori, and the Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Ms. Shaza Fatima. The PKR 668 million project will strengthen telecom access in District Badin by deploying 45 new telecom sites and upgrading four existing ones. This will extend reliable voice and high-speed mobile broadband services to 144 unserved and underserved mauzas and reach an estimated 0.43 million people.
The expanded network will support access to digital financial services, online learning, telehealth, and government e-services while enabling small businesses and farmers with improved digital tools and generating direct and indirect employment during deployment and operations.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO JazzWorld, commented on the development by saying that connectivity is the foundation of inclusive growth. He appreciated the continued support from the Universal Service Fund and the Ministry of IT & Telecom to enable partnerships bringing high-quality digital services to communities on the margins of the digital economy.
Chaudhry Mudassar Naveed, CEO USF, added that the Badin Project reflects their partnership with Jazz to bridge the digital divide by delivering reliable connectivity to underserved communities. By expanding broadband access in District Badin, they are enabling socio-economic development and creating new opportunities at the grassroots level.
The Badin Project builds on Jazz and USF’s long-standing partnership to expand digital access across Pakistan. Through sustained collaboration, the two organizations continue to connect underserved communities nationwide, enabling greater participation in the digital economy and advancing Jazz’s purpose of delivering a Better Life for All.
