Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced that the party will declare its next course of action on September 24, following the expiration of the deadline for implementing an agreement to reduce electricity prices. Addressing a sit-in protest in Kandhkot on Saturday, Naeemur Rehman highlighted JI’s ongoing movement for the rights of the people under the slogan “Haq Do Awam Ko” (Give the People Their Rights).

Naeemur Rehman referenced a previous sit-in held in Rawalpindi, where an agreement on lowering electricity prices was reached with the government. However, the deadline for the government’s action is September 23. The JI leader urged the government to meet its commitments, reduce electricity costs, impose taxes on feudal lords, and curb state-funded luxury.

He also strongly criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for its 16-year rule in Sindh, accusing it of failing to deliver relief to the public. He condemned the prevalence of crime, corruption, and poor infrastructure, blaming the ruling elite for the deteriorating situation. The sit-in saw a large turnout, with participants demanding improved security and an end to lawlessness.

Naeemur Rehman urged the public to join JI’s efforts against the corrupt ruling elite, including the PPP, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), whom he accused of electoral rigging and exploiting the nation’s resources for decades. He emphasized that without collective action from the people, the country would not see progress.
