Additional District and Sessions Judge Khalid Wazir of Rawalpindi has dismissed the interim bail granted to female driver N* by a local court, finding her guilty of running over two motorcyclists while exceeding speed limits. In response to this ruling, police arrested N* at her hearing and promptly transferred her to the station.
N*, who had obtained interim bail on January 21, claimed in her defense that she was entirely innocent, not involved in the accident, and had been falsely implicated by those with ulterior motives. During her bail application hearing, however, N* could not produce a valid driving license. This fact alone led to her interim bail being revoked.
The court held that police investigation confirmed N*’s direct involvement in the tragic incident where three people lost their lives due to negligence and reckless behavior. The judge also noted N*’s failure to present a driving license as evidence of her misconduct.
Following this decision, New Town Police arrested N* immediately after her bail was withdrawn. On January 19, near Rehmanabad on Murree Road, N* had reportedly driven at excessive speed and crossed the divider to run over two motorcyclists: Muhammad Zohaib and Rizwan Ali, who were coming from the opposite direction. Muhammad Muzammil and Munir Khan were also injured in the accident; later, Muzammil succumbed to his injuries.
The incident caused significant public outrage, as it highlighted N*’s disregard for traffic rules, leading to multiple casualties. The court’s ruling underscores the importance of stringent enforcement of driving laws and accountability for road users.
