Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying moment, stating that the vehicle was traveling at over 60 km/h.

The suspect was playing loud music at the time of Iftar. The couple was breaking their fast when the speeding car struck them,” an eyewitness told a private news channel.

Another couple, who barely escaped the crash, described the terrifying experience. “The car hit us too, but we somehow managed to stay upright. The scene was horrifying,” said a distraught woman, struggling to hold back tears.

Following the accident, enraged bystanders detained the suspect. However, when police arrived to take him into custody, the crowd surrounded the police vehicle in protest.

Authorities identified the car’s owner as Imama Asad, while the driver was named Aleeq. According to law enforcement, Aleeq was heading toward Defence when the accident occurred. To prevent mob retaliation, police swiftly moved him to the station.

The victims’ grieving family expressed their fears that justice might not be served.

“Today, we are suffering; tomorrow, it could be someone else. The law has lost its credibility. The suspect is in custody now, but money will set him free,” said the deceased woman’s father, voicing his anguish.
