Karachi Court Questions Video Link Appearance Request
Anmol alias Pinky, an accused drug dealer in a high-profile case, has been at the center of a legal battle. The superintendent of the women’s jail filed an application seeking permission to allow Anmol alias Pinky to attend court proceedings via video link.
The judicial magistrate summoned the jail superintendent and directed her to appear before the court on June 1. In its order, the court questioned the need for such a request as the trial has not yet commenced.
The superintendent argued that Anmol alias Pinky’s physical appearance at the City Court could lead to potential law and order issues due to the sensitive nature of the case and heightened public attention. The accused was arrested in connection with alleged drug trafficking activities during a crackdown by law enforcement agencies in Karachi.
Authorities claimed they had recovered narcotics and linked the accused to a wider drug supply network operating in different parts of the city. Investigators are continuing efforts to identify other suspected members associated with the alleged network.
