Rao Khalid Mahmood, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Lahore, praised the strengthening strategic partnership between Pakistan and Kazakhstan on Monday, highlighting recent progress since many years. He described President Nazarbayev’s visit to Pakistan as a landmark achievement, optimistic that direct flights would resume soon.
In an interview with PTV News, Mahmood emphasized the expanding opportunities for trade, investment, and agriculture, as well as prospects for new industries, strengthened chamber-level collaboration, promoting tourism, cultural festivals like Basant, and labor exchanges. He considered these recent developments a significant milestone in deepening bilateral relations.
Noting that Pakistan and Kazakhstan had rekindled brotherly ties under the current government’s leadership after ten years, Mahmood expressed optimism about future cooperation across multiple sectors.
He also suggested that direct flights between the two countries should soon resume through PIA to improve connectivity and promote people-to-people exchanges. Additionally, he called for the Punjab government to organize a larger Basant festival next year, inviting diplomats and foreign embassies to participate.
This move would further project a positive image of Pakistan on an international scale. This year’s festival had already helped showcase a more friendly and welcoming face of Pakistan at global forums.
