King Charles III reportedly employed a “brutal” approach in dealing with his disgraced brother Andrew during their recent dealings. This approach garnered significant attention from royal watchers, who had anticipated a softer response.
A renowned royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams, spoke to GB News about the monarch’s actions. According to the expert, Charles removed Andrew’s royal titles as necessary given the uncertainty surrounding revelations related to Jeffrey Epstein.
In October 2025, Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, would have his royal titles rescinded. The same announcement also indicated that he must vacate the Royal Lodge, a property he had been residing in for over two decades.
Fitzwilliams characterized Charles’ actions as necessary and more severe than many had anticipated. He stated, “The King acted appropriately given the circumstances, though some speculated it would not occur.” Fitzwilliams explained that Charles took this step due to the prolonged nature of Epstein-related revelations which had occurred in various forms over an extended period.
“He removed Andrew’s title as prince,” said Fitzwilliams. “This was a difficult decision for the King because he did not know what specific information might be released and how it would affect his position.”
Fitzwilliams noted, “The situation has been challenging for Charles, compounded by the unique nature of the humiliation that follows these revelations.”
