KP CM Afridi Urges SC Meeting Between Imran Khan and Doctors for Health Concerns

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi arrived at the Supreme Court on Friday, urging Chief Justice Yahya Afridi to arrange a meeting between jailed PTI founder Imran Khan and his personal doctors. Speaking to reporters, Afridi expressed concern over the health of the country’s most popular leader, stating that he was seeking justice for Khan despite ongoing court proceedings.

Afridi warned that if efforts to meet with Khan failed after approaching the apex court, the PTI would announce its next course of action. He claimed that two cases involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi—his wife—had not been scheduled for hearings in over a year, and that if justice were provided, all imprisoned party leaders could be released within half an hour.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said he had exhausted all other options. He added that his presence at the Supreme Court should be viewed as part of efforts to end protests outside Adiala Jail. On Thursday, Afridi rushed to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi after reports surfaced about Khan’s brief stay at Pims Hospital for a medical procedure. The group planned to spend the night outside the prison but left around 3 AM.

Since taking office last October, Afridi has repeatedly sought permission to meet with imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan without success. Recently, he and Imran Khan’s sisters as well as his legal team have been barred from meeting him, leading to frequent sit-ins and protests at the jail. Police have used force multiple times to disperse protesters camped at Factory Naka.

Earlier, the PTI had raised concerns over Khan’s health. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that Khan had undergone an eye-related medical procedure at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad. Afridi expressed serious concerns about the former premier’s condition.
