KP CM Writes to PM Over Suspended CNG Gas Supply, Urging Restoration

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has written to the Prime Minister over the suspension of gas supply to the province’s CNG sector. The letter urges immediate resolution of the issue, citing constitutional rights and economic impact.

KP produces approximately 494 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas, with only around 120 MMCFD consumed locally. The CNG sector requires 36 to 40 MMCFD for operations, which has reportedly been diverted to the fertilizer sector.

Afridi emphasized that under Article 158 of the Constitution, a gas-producing province has first right of use over its resources. He also highlighted that thousands of jobs are at risk and reliance on expensive fuel would further burden the public.

The chief minister urged the Prime Minister to restore gas supply to CNG stations and called for a meeting of the Council of Common Interests, requesting the matter be included on its agenda.
