Lahore: 44-Year Rainfall Record Broken with Torrential Downpour

Lahore experienced a record-breaking downpour on Thursday, with 350 millimetres of rain falling within three hours, surpassing a 44-year-old record. The torrential rain has led to water entering homes in the Tajpura area.

Sardar Sarfaraz, chief meteorologist at the Pakistan Meteorological Department, described the rains as “torrential.” He noted that while Lahore has seen heavy rainfall, Sindh experienced even more precipitation compared to Punjab, which was anticipated.

Sarfaraz indicated that while the intensity of the rainfall is expected to decrease, intermittent rain will continue through the evening due to a substantial cloud mass. He also mentioned that from August 1 to 6, various parts of the country will experience rain.

PMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall Across Pakistan from August 2-6

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) reported that intermittent rain is ongoing across most national highways.
