Maddox Drops Pitt’s Name From ‘Couture’ Credits Despite Father’s Truce

In Maddox Jolie’s latest film role, it has been noted that he is being credited without his father’s surname. The 24-year-old appeared as an assistant director on “Couture,” a drama directed by none other than Angelina Jolie herself at the age of 50. The film made its debut in French cinemas on February 18th this year. In the end credits, his name is listed simply as Maddox Jolie.

This marks the second time since 2024 that he has chosen to carry only his mother’s surname in a role. In “Maria,” a biographical drama from 2024 where Jolie portrayed the legendary opera singer Maria Callas, Maddox was identified as Maddox Jolie-Pitt while serving as a production assistant.

Together with siblings Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne, who have also moved away from their father’s surname in recent years. In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie for her role in “The Outsiders,” produced by her mother. And in August of the same year, Zahara introduced herself to the world as Zahara Marley Jolie via a video shared on Essence.

Shiloh, now legally known as Shiloh Jolie after turning 18, fulfilled California’s requirement for minors who wish to change their name by publishing an announcement in the Los Angeles Times. These developments follow Angelina and Brad Pitt’s public split in 2016 and their divorce finalized late that year following a prolonged legal battle.

Maddox is one of six children shared between Jolie and Pitt, marking a significant shift from their initial years together as he begins to forge his own identity independent of his parents’ surname.
