In an alarming interview with Russian state news agency Tass, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s powerful Security Council Dmitry Medvedev warned that World War III could erupt if US President Donald Trump continues his reckless course of “changing political regimes.” Describing Washington’s actions as an “attempt to preserve global dominance,” Medvedev expressed deep concern about the potential for such a conflict.

The Russian official emphasized that this crisis is compounded by Iran’s declaration of a holy war, which has intensified vulnerabilities among US and Israeli officials. According to Medvedev, while Iran hasn’t responded with full force yet, its strategic patience suggests an ancient civilization capable of waiting out confrontations. He noted Trump’s decision as “a grave mistake,” putting all Americans at risk due to his stance on Iranian regimes.

Medvedev also highlighted the significant threat to America posed by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s martyrdom and Iran’s persistent pursuit of nuclear weapons, a situation he described as now almost certain. While acknowledging Iran’s ability to withstand future conflicts, Medvedev underscored that such confrontations would demand immense societal consolidation.

In his analysis of the European response to US and Israeli actions, he portrayed Western countries’ reaction to these policies as “toadyism” and “vileness,” suggesting they are mere allies looking for ways to appease America. Moreover, Medvedev questioned whether the International Olympic Committee might bar US and Israeli athletes from competitions akin to what happened with Russian competitors previously.

Turning to Russia-Ukraine talks, Medvedev admitted there’s a risk Moscow could be pressured into negotiating with Kyiv in order to give Ukraine time to reinforce its defenses. Regarding Western capitals’ intent on potentially confronting Russia directly, he posited that any guarantees are limited; the primary assurance lies in America’s fear of Russia and the catastrophic consequences of a nuclear conflict.

In essence, Medvedev articulated the perilous scenario where Trump’s policies could lead to global war, underlining that despite apparent threats, the world remains teetering on the brink.
