Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has stated her opposition to President Donald Trump’s potential decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Italy. Speaking at a European Political Community summit in Yerevan, Armenia, Meloni said the move “doesn’t depend on me” and personally disagrees with it.
Trump last week indicated he would likely consider pulling troops out of Italy and Spain, citing escalating tensions between the U.S. and its European allies over the US-led military campaign against Iran. The President has also threatened to reduce American troop deployments in Germany, a move that could extend to Italy and Spain as well.
