Millions of Muslims from around the world are continuing their annual Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah as they prepare to perform Wuquf-e-Arafah today. Pilgrims will travel in large groups from Makkah to Mina, where they offered Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayers overnight.
On Zul-Hijjah 9th, pilgrims gather at the Plain of Arafat for Wuquf-e-Arafah and listen to the Hajj sermon delivered from Masjid Namirah. They will combine and shorten the Zuhr and Asr prayers while remaining in Arafat until sunset to offer prayers, repentance and supplications.
Immediately after sunset, pilgrims depart for Muzdalifah where they spend the night under the open sky, combine Maghrib and Isha prayers, collect pebbles for the symbolic stoning of the devil. On Zul-Hijjah 10th morning, pilgrims return to Mina to perform Rami by throwing pebbles at the largest Jamarah.
Saudi authorities have made special arrangements in and around Arafat due to extreme heat and possible dust storms including tree plantation drives, shaded areas, cooling fans with water mist systems, and specially designed walkways aimed at reducing fatigue for pilgrims.
