MOIB Introduces Media Helpline for Journalists During Elections

Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, announced the launch of a media helpline aimed at resolving complaints from both local and foreign journalists during elections.

Speaking at the helpline’s inauguration ceremony, Solangi emphasized the necessity of upgrading operations in the digital media age.

The media complaint application, accessible through any browser, will cater to journalists and media personnel covering the 2024 general elections, providing a platform for swift resolution of issues, Solangi explained.

He highlighted the caretaker government’s commitment to supporting the Election Commission of Pakistan in ensuring free and transparent elections within the stipulated timeframe.

With only two days remaining until polling day, where over 120 million Pakistanis are expected to vote, Solangi emphasized the fundamental role of citizens in electing representatives to govern the country, as enshrined in the Constitution.

The inauguration ceremony, led by Murtaza Solangi at the Press Information Department, marked the introduction of the media complaint application.

This digital tool enables journalists to lodge complaints efficiently through various devices during election coverage.

Additionally, the application will serve as a communication bridge between departments and journalists, swiftly addressing and tracking complaints until resolution.

Press Information Officer Tariq Mehmood underscored the application’s significance in addressing journalists’ grievances during general elections, hinting at its potential to become a permanent platform for resolving media-related issues in the future. Furthermore, Mehmood announced the establishment of an election cell at the PID on February 7th, dedicated to assisting journalists around the clock during the upcoming elections.
