Monal, a renowned restaurant in Islamabad, has announced its closure in compliance with a Supreme Court directive. The establishment, located in Margalla Hills National Park, will cease operations on September 11, 2024.
On Facebook, Monal shared the news: “It’s time to say Goodbye. As per Honorable SCP directions, we are closing on 11/09/2024.” The restaurant expressed appreciation for its customers, saying, “Since 2006, It was an absolute pleasure for the Monal family to serve and showcase a positive image of Pakistan and its beautiful people. This journey was full of success stories and emotions for the team affiliated with us but now it’s time to say goodbye.”
The Supreme Court’s ruling on June 11 mandated the closure of all restaurants within national parks. The court ordered that these establishments, including Monal, must be dismantled within three months and stated that while relocation is an option, commercial activities are prohibited within the park boundaries.
